From 2015 – 2018 verd de gris will be delivering an exciting partnership project here in Calderdale called ‘Creative Communities’.

‘Creative Communities’ sees us working with two key organisations: Square Chapel Centre for the Arts and Orangebox Young People’s Centre. All three organisations share a commitment: “to widening opportunity, promoting inclusivity and improving the lives of children, young and older people in Calderdale.”

Our creative work will attempt to address some of the issues related to ‘healthy communities’ across Calderdale, including social isolation affecting older people and greater intergenerational links / increased understanding between younger and older people from different social / ethnic background. We will work in areas of particular need as identified by local indicators in Calderdale.

Our project programme will encourage dialogue and conversation between targeted groups of older people and participating schools and youth groups. It will enable people to learn about each other’s living circumstances, backgrounds, values, differences and similarities and support better understanding.

A key aim for us is to explore at how creativity, culture and the arts can be used to improve aspects of social contact and social networking: by developing and enabling communication between individuals and communities.

You can keep up-to-date with all these projects by following the Blog

The Creative Communities (Stronger Together) programme is supported with funding from the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
